IRT Showcases ARCHIMEDES Project at ADTC 2025

Marina Labalette, representing the Institute of Research and Technology (IRT), delivered a notable presentation at this year’s European Nanoelectronics Applications, Design & Technology Conference (ADTC) 2025. Her talk, entitled "Evaluating the Reliability of Highly Demanding Power Electronics for Electrical Mobility: Key Findings from the ARCHIMEDES Chips JU Project and Other IRT Collaborative Projects", offered a deep dive into the reliability challenges facing next-generation power electronics in the context of sustainable transport.

The ARCHIMEDES project, part of the Chips Joint Undertaking (JU) framework, is focused on improving the robustness and performance of power electronics under highly demanding conditions - particularly in applications related to electric mobility. Marina L. highlighted results achieved through ARCHIMEDES and other IRT-led initiatives, showcasing collaborative efforts aimed at ensuring long-term operational reliability, efficiency, and safety of electronic components used in electric vehicles.

ADTC 2025 gathered key stakeholders from across the European micro- and nanoelectronics landscape, including researchers, engineers, and industry leaders. The conference is recognised for addressing the full innovation chain—from electronic components and system design to automation and manufacturing.

The event also featured promising research outcomes from major European programmes, including PENTA/XECS, ECSEL/KDT/Chips JU, H2020/Horizon Europe, and IPCEI ME/CT. These collaborative projects have received extensive support from funding bodies such as EUREKA, the European Commission, and various national governments, underlining Europe’s strategic commitment to maintaining global leadership in semiconductor and electronics innovation.

The presentation was well-received and emphasised the importance of joint research initiatives in reinforcing Europe’s position in the rapidly evolving electric mobility and semiconductor sectors.
